Upholstery and Refinishing Harvey Cedars NJ
Before moving to a new home in the spring, this kitchen area furniture needed a makeover. Partly to erase years of heavy use and partly to fit into the new design theme.
Apparently, the green would not work.
A combination of stained wood mixed with painted sections would work nicely in the new decor. We got a cabinet sample as a style guide.
We stripped the chairs, table top and parts of the hutch down to bare wood. The table top and hutch doors were to get the new stain color. The original finish on the chairs was softened and sticky, so it had to go even though the chairs were to get colored lacquer paint style finish.
After color coat on the painted parts, a colored glaze - wiped, brushed and rubbed - set the final look.
The chair seats recovered in a nicely textured fabric by Kravet extended the look.
The weave gave a more contemporary feel.
Replacing the head-to-head upholstery nail trim also enhanced the more casual mood.
A Nanotex treatment gives stain protection.
The trip to this Harvey Cedars, NJ home was rather a long one for us. We had done other work for these nice folks and wanted to play a part in their plans for their new home. We hope they invite us down for the grand opening!
